Kathleen Muncaster Fuchsias 18,Field Lane, Morton Gainsborough Lincs.DN21 3BY Telephone 01427 612329 |
The nursery is at Morton on the North side of Gainsborough. On a road map look for the C class
road, roughly parallel with the A159 to Scunthorpe, going to Walkerith. Field
Lane is on the left of this road about 400 yards beyond the primary school.
The nursery is open daily except Wednesday from February until mid
July. After mid July we may well be
closed at weekends so that we can attend shows and it would be advisable to
check by phone before making any long journey to the nursery.
Coach
trips are welcome by appointment.
We have been involved with growing fuchsias
for the last 30 years and as a nursery for the last 24,albeit on a small scale
(back garden) to start with We moved here in 1978 and have slowly increased the
area of greenhouses and display area. Since Jim took early retirement in 1989
we have both worked at growing fuchsias providing it did not interfere with
prime fishing time (for Jim),which it usually does, and allowed Kath to help at
the local Save the Children shop as light relief.
We
can give talks about fuchsias and their cultivation and problems providing the
venue is within an hours drive and usually charge enough to cover our expenses.
Longer journeys we must refuse as they cause problems with livestock and
arthritic hips.
Plants
are available as rooted cuttings in plugs at 65p each early in the season,
grown on in 7cm sq. pots at £1.20 and also in 10F,15F,hanging pots (6” and 8”) and some even larger. Prices for these
range from £1.50 to £7.50.Print out a discount voucher
for callers.
We
no longer send plants by post.
Catalogues

The
nursery has an extensive garden displaying hardy fuchsias. We also display our
large collection of Fuchsia species though the number of flowers on these
plants can be very variable. Cuttings from Fuchsia species not listed may
also be for sale to callers. Plants to be introduced the following year and
other seedlings may also be on display and comments are encouraged.
NCCPG National Collections
We are very pleased
that our collection of hardy fuchsias, most of which have been planted out, has
been given full status as a National Collection. As well as testing cultivars for
hardiness in our garden we are looking to extend our collection of known hardy
fuchsias. We would also be interested to hear of any cultivars that have
survived several winters in the garden, preferably in not too sheltered a spot.
If you have any problem with
or any query about fuchsias or their cultivation please ask, either in person
or by e-mail. We will do our best to answer.

cannot get to the nursery. Click on the hyperlink for a list of the sales we
